Para-Counselling (WSQ)

OBJECTIVES

Participants will be able to acquire skills, attitude and knowledge to provide para-counselling to clients within an agreed counselling framework. It includes supporting certified counselling professionals in their daily work and supporting the implementation of appropriate para-counselling approaches. Participants will be able to achieve the following learning outcomes upon completion of training:

  • Identify the roles of a para-counsellor
  • Describe the guiding principles and ethical issues of counselling
  • Explain theories and techniques of 6 counselling therapies
  • Apply communication techniques when interacting with clients
  • Apply integrative approach in counselling
  • Apply counselling skills to meet client’s needs in different setting

Theories and techniques of Counselling Key concepts, the therapeutic process and application of the following therapies:
• Psychoanalytic Therapy
• Person-centred Therapy
• Gestalt Therapy
• Behavior Therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• Family Counselling

Communication & Integration
• Communication techniques throughout the counselling process:
• Attending & Listening Skills
• Responding & Questioning Skills
• Relate Theories and Integrate in Counselling Practice

Practical for Counselling Skills
• Apply counselling skills to meet the needs of diverse client in different settings

  • Friday, 4 June 2021 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Wednesday, 9 June 2021 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Friday, 11 June 2021 from 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Wednesday, 16 June 2021 from 9:00am to 5:00pm

Mode of Training: Blended Learning (Full Time)

Language Medium: English

Course duration: 30 hours

  • 20 hours (Classroom Training)
  • 2.5 hours (Practical / Practicum Training)
  • 6 hours (E-Learning) (at own time during the course duration)
  • 1.5 hours (Assessment)

Total Cost of Training per Trainee: $920.00

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses.
