What this means is that all certifiable courses approved by SSG will only be eligible for up to 70% funding. Previously, Those eligible for the Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) would be eligible for up to 90% funding. So your favourite courses which you plan to take in the future, maybe in 2022 and you are above 40 years of age, those courses will now be slightly more expensive!
If you are between 21 years and 39 years of age, the change will not affect you. You will still be eligible for up to 50% funding support.
What can you do?
Well, if you are considering signing up for the Para-Counselling (WSQ) course and you are 40 years old and above, my humble suggestion to do the course this year by December 2021. This will enable you to save some of your SkillsFuture Credit or cash (if you have already used up your SkillsFuture Credit.)
